Police Department / QuadCom Protocol for COVID-19
The Village’s emergency dispatch center (QUADCOM) recently implemented additional 9-1-1 call answering procedures. This will help police, firefighters and paramedics determine what personal protective equipment (PPE) or safety precautions they need to take to better protect them from the community spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
When you call 9-1-1, you will be asked a series of additional questions such as if you have breathing problems, a fever, cough or flu-like symptoms. The 9-1-1 dispatcher also will ask if you recently traveled, if you have been in contact with anyone who has recently traveled, or if you have been in contact with someone who has a confirmed case or is being tested for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
QUADCOM indicated these additional 9-1-1 call answering procedures WILL NOT DELAY emergency response. Thank you for helping to limit the exposure of the coronavirus (COVID-19) to our officers, firefighters, and paramedics.
The Police Department is implementing additional health and safety precautions to help protect residents and PD employees from the community spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The following temporary police protocol will remain in effect until further notice:
Response to High Priority/Emergency Calls Has Not Changed
Low Priority Calls for Service
• Low priority calls involving non-emergencies, delayed calls for service, informational calls, low-level property crimes, or ordinance violations may be handled via a phone report process if requested. An officer can call you back and generate a police report over the telephone in lieu of an in-person response.
DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING:
• If you have a fever or had a fever within the last 24 hours,
• Traveled outside of the United States within the last 14 days,
• Or if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, a cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath.
PLEASE CALL 9-1-1 FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING TO MAKE YOUR POLICE REPORT OR USE THE LOBBY PHONE IF A PERSONAL CELL PHONE IS NOT AVAILABLE.
